Steps

  1. 1Peel the banana and break it into a blender. Add the cottage cheese, cocoa, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt.
  2. 2Blend for 45 seconds, stop to scrape the sides, and blend again until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  3. 3Taste before adding more maple. The banana and cocoa vary in sweetness, so adjust in small 1-teaspoon additions.
  4. 4Spoon the mixture into two cups and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This gives the cocoa time to soften and the texture time to thicken.
  5. 5Add a few mini chocolate chips only if desired. Keep covered and use within 2 days.

Grit & Soul tip

Use a ripe banana for sweetness and body. An underripe banana leaves the whip thin and makes you add more sweetener.

For the people who read the story

The memory belongs below the recipe.

This is an original chocolate variation on the blended cottage-cheese dessert videos that have made the ingredient popular again.

Grit & Soul keeps the cooking directions easy to reach first. The story still matters, but it should never make someone scroll forever before they can cook.

This is the kind of idea I would save for a cold Sunday. The cast iron move feels exactly right.

Kitchen note

Why it works

Baking rewards control more than improvisation. A fully heated oven and an even pan give the crust a fair start.

Watch for

Let the center set before slicing. The carryover heat is part of the recipe, not a delay.

Make it yours

Add one small personal mark: orange zest, cracked pepper, a honey finish, or a different pan.
